Home 2 – Water Pump Info
DRIFTWOOD HEIGHTS ASSOC
Well Status Update: 09/30
Water system operating on one of two boost pressure pumps, 2nd pump in for repairs, we lowered pressure to ensure we do not cause damage to the primary pump, if we over pressurize the system and it fails then we will be back into a NO pressure situation. Please have patience as we have the 2nd boost pump at the repair shop. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Thanks for your cooperation.
Well Status Update: 09/21
Chlorination levels are good throughout indicating our system is safe to drink. May taste and/or smell chlorine for a few more days.
Pressure levels are good.
New well pump working as it should.
One area of concern remains which will prompt continued conservation, especially with outside watering. One of our 2 booster pumps has also picked this time to go bad. Fernando will be taking that out for repair, so we have just one pump providing pressure to our system. To keep the pressure off of it, we need to continue being careful about water use. Would recommend we continue with no watering of lawns.
Well Status Update: 09/20
Current status. Well pump was delivered. We are still waiting for update on installation. Until we receive official notification, it is advised that you continue to either use bottled water or boil water. We will update further as soon as we have word back on the progress.
Well Status Update: 09/15
Fernando connected Hawthorne back this morning around 9:30 and as of now around 1:30 all appears to be going well. Temporary pump is working as it should and slowly the Octagonal tank is being filled and should be full sometime this weekend.
Our new pump is scheduled to be installed on Monday as long as both reservoir tanks are full.
Fernando did random checks and chlorine levels are good through out our system.
Will continue with DW2 until the new pump is operational.
Chlorine smell could be high since the shock treatment in both our tanks and DW2
Line pressure may be lower than normal for Hawthorne until after new well pump is installed.
Still would recommend boiling drinking water and/or use bottled water.
EMERGENCY WATER NOTICE
Update: 09/14
Our goal is to provide water to Hawthorne mid morning tomorrow. Please be mindful and patient of the fact there could still be unexplained leaks that may require intermittent use but we won’t know until tomorrow.
To all other residents not on Hawthorne, we still are on loan from driftwood 2 and must conserve.
Drinking Water
It would be wise to recommend we boil our drinking water until system has stabilized. Water coming from different sources and leaks does create concern.
9/12/2017: DHA Water Emergency Update:
We are still experiencing difficulties with our water system.
Yesterday evening King Water had opened valves to the system and trying to refill our round tank with a garden hose. Obviously, this method will not keep up with demand.
One concern is that once Hawthorne was connected yesterday, which is a separate system within the system, we noticed a drastic drop in the round water tank overnight. At this stage King Water suspects that we may have a damaged line on top of the hill somewhere along Hawthorne, with that being said I’m expecting King to shut down the Hawthorne line once again tonight and readdress this Wednesday morning.
We are currently working with Carlson Trucking to have provide a tanker truck to bring us approximately 7500 gallons of water and make as many trips as possible in order to refill the round tank to give the system a jump start so you all will have water.
The well suction pump repair is in work, we are ensuring that the main pipe is clean after the damaged pump is brought up before it is replaced, this will take some time but well worth the effort to ensure that we have a clean system prior to installation. I’m confident that the water system will be up and running normally no later than Thursday and I ask that those of you who have water exercise extreme conservation.
Thank you,
Paul Corbett
DHA President
Update: Sunday 6:01 PM
It seems we have at least some water restored. At least, for now. Please use the water wisely and conserve. The supply will be limited until we get our new pump and have it working, which will be the end of the week at the soonest. And if you happen to cross the path of the men (Paul Corbett, Steve Casteel, Steve Christian) that have given so many hard hours to get this fixed, please thank them. Or, if you know how to bake, bake them some cookies! I’m sure they would appreciate it.
Update: Sunday 2:54 PM
They are working on the wells. They are trying to restore the feed from Sunrise to us and could have some water restored by morning. They are also trying to get a loaner pump to get our own well running. However, if they do get some water flowing, it is IMPERATIVE that we conserve as much as is possible.
Also, it is recommended that you turn off the breaker to your hot water heater. If it is empty, you could potentially do damage to it. Also, please double-check that there are no hoses you forgot to turn off.
Thank you
EMERGENCY WATER SHUT DOWN. WE ARE OUT OF WATER TODAY, SUNDAY. WE WILL ATTEMPT TEMPORARY REPAIRS. DO NOT USE ANY WATER UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE! WE NEED ALL RESIDENTS THAT HAVE LAWN SPRINKLER SYSTEMS TO ENSURE THOSE SYSTEMS ARE TURNED OFF. WE LOST AROUND 50 THOUSAND GALLONS OF WATER LAST NIGHT.
Update: The repair parts are being collected, pump is coming from N.Y. and won’t be here until next week (shipping status on Monday), other local parts were not an issue, repairs will start on Monday. They will be doing some disassembly and required cleaning and are expected to be back on-line late Friday or Saturday next week.
UPDATE 9/8/17
Thursday afternoon or early evening the main pump that pulls the water from our aquafer failed. This resulted in a major draw down of our available water evidenced by a lack of water Friday morning. As of this afternoon the best estimate we have for the pump being operational is next Friday, 9/15.
Our well system has a safeguard for this type of situation. We have the ability to use water from the Sunrise Water Association but only up to 20,000 gallons per day. We use 40,000 gallons per day so we MUST CONSERVE to get through this. King Water will be monitoring our usage every day and we don’t have much wiggle room so we are counting on all our users to do their part to help.
We need the following steps to be taken:
No lawn watering
No car washing
No pressure washing
Minimize the flushing of your toilets
Run smaller loads of wash and space them out further
Very quick showers, perhaps not as often
Our website driftwoodheights.net will have information posted as it becomes available.
